Brampton Heath Golf Club provided the venue for round Five of the Crown and Anchor season and a before we start on the action a big thanks must go out to John Behan for collecting all the monies prior to the first shot being struck in order to accommodate our overly fussy hosts. Parched fairways and decent greens meant that scoring would be good for all our participants. The two call down Par 3 holes were proving to be a little troublesome for the players in one case a bag was left in front of the green thus providing an extra obstacle for the those teeing off and in another incident a group were waiting patiently by the green awaiting the tee shots not realising that one of them was still holding the flag!!!

Tom Gwilliam's heart must have been in his mouth with the prospect of a hefty bar bill as his tee shot finished to within inches of an ace at the Par three 7th hole as he scooped the 'nearest the pin' award. The 'Longest Drive' award on the Par 5 tenth hole went again to the big hitting Martin Behan and the 'Nearest the Pin in Two' award on the 18th hole was cruelly snatched from Paddy Behan's grasp with the final approach shot of the competition from Neil Auburn which owed to a huge amount of luck and good fortune.

The main competition was always going fiercely contested and the third place slot went to Martin Behan with an impressive 40 points and a further cash prize to add to his previous award. A storming back nine of 22 points saw Steve Mckenna roar through the field and claim the Runners Up spot with 40 points but this was not quite enough as the ever popular John Behan claimed the title and recipient of the Crown and Anchor Public House sponsored trophy with a superb 42 points. The final award of the day in the 'Must do better' category had a new member as Brad Witt scooped the now infamous 'Pink Hat' with 23 points.
