Dark skies and torrential rain greeted our travelers fo Round Five of the season hosted by the Millbrook Golf Club. With the rain coming down by the bucket load and the course starting to flood, he prospects of play were not looking to promising. The members had started to blame the Captain for the rain by reminding him of his last golf day's speech in which he referred on how lucky we had been with the weather. A decision was taken to delay the start time by half an hour in the faint hope that the deluge would ease. With all the wet weather gear donned and the umbrellas in full use, the players descended to the first tee only to be greeted by a miracle of bright skies and the sun trying to shine through.

The course had survived the severe rain fall and the conditions were perfect for good scoring. First prize on offer was at the short 4th hole where Dorian Sanchez scooped the "Nearest the Pin in Two" award. The Par 3 10th hole which two hours previously was flooded provided the venue for the "Nearest the Pin" challenge and this was duly claimed by Budge with a superb approach. The "Big Hitters" had to wait until the 384 yard Par 4 18th hole to flex their muscles and he bragging rights for the day went the way of Martin "Boom Boom" Behan.

In the absence of the Captain, the award ceremony was conduced by Vice Captain Paul Mcallister in conjunction with our kind sponsor John Behan of BMH Scaffolding. The overall third place spot was claimed by the absent Captain Neil Auburn with 34 points - sincere apologies for the early departure. The Runners Up spot was claimed by another consistent performer in Dave Austin with an excellent 35 points. There was a new name on the Winner's podium where Mark Gee with a superb 36 points to claim the main competition's trophy.
